About MESACC
Middle Eastern Suties and Cooperation Center
The last decade has witnessed a significant increase in Turkey’s relations with the Middle East, in political, economic, cultural and social aspects. It is likely that these relations will continue to improve in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. The Eskişehir Osmangazi University has acknowledged the necessity of studying and promoting Turkish-Arab relations in both the academic and cultural spheres. For this purpose, the Middle Eastern Studies and Cooperation Center was established in July 2011. It carries an interdisciplinary outlook and structure, while the International Relations Department constitutes the backbone of the Center. The MESACC is also the main partner of the Arab-Turkish Congress of Social Sciences (ATCOSS). By supporting research and cooperation in the Middle East, the MESACC aims to promote better understanding between Turkey and Middle Eastern societies. The center aims to produce objective information to increase cooperation among Turkey’s neighbors, to promote cooperation in the Middle East, to aid policy makers and the public in research and analyses and finally to encourage other bodies and institutions to empower cooperation between Turkey and the Middle Eastern countries.
